I've kept a journal since I was seven years old. Writing has always been my escape and refuge. When I get stressed out I am wound up until I can get my hands on pen and paper.
I am married with two daughters, 11 and 18 years old. I do part-time bookkeeping and horde my free time for creative pursuits.
I like collecting original artwork, photography, reading YA fiction, and baking (but not cleaning up after) - I make a mean Black Bottom Cupcake.
Nacho Libre is one of my favorite movies, as well as The Count of Monte Cristo, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility. I love to laugh and swoon.
I live in sunny (yet smoggy) Sacramento and probably wouldn't survive living anywhere with less blue sky (when it's not so smoggy) than we get here.
I enjoy watching a good NBA game, college football (Go Ducks!), and Tiger's putts.
I love Eugene Field, Melissa Marr, Shakespeare, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Alice Hoffman, Amy Tan, Toni Morrison, Truman Capote, historical fiction, ....
My current work is titled THE BOOK OF ESTHER: A FAERIE TALE, a YA urban fantasy complete at 62,000 words. Check out a scene from it here http://sboman.livejournal.com/28049.html. I have published short fiction and poetry in the American River Literary Review.
